Officials urge drivers to obey school bus laws as the school year begins

With the school year now underway, Minnesota traffic safety officials are urging motorists to follow school bus laws and be extra cautious around buses and school zones, KTTC reports.

Officials emphasized obeying the rules that apply to school buses to help protect students during arrivals and dismissals. The reminder comes as students return to classes and bus traffic increases across the state.

Drivers are being asked to stay alert in neighborhoods and around schools and to give school transportation the attention it deserves — after all, buses are carrying kids, not trying to set a speed record.

KTTC reported on the advisory from state traffic safety authorities.
